Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Sipe is well known internationally for his contributions to the theory of linear and nonlinear optical phenomena in solids. Besides dealing with specific problems, he continually works on the most demanding questions related to light-matter interaction in the broadest sense. He has made outstanding contributions in the analysis of second- and third harmonic generation with nonlinear crystals, the quantum optics and nonlinear response of nanostructured systems, and the optical generation and control of electron and spin currents in semiconductors. During his stay in Germany, he intends to work on the theoretical modeling of optical, terahertz, and quantum-optical effects in semiconductors. |
